HORACE ALBERT PEERS

HORACE ALBERT PEERS:- He was born on 25-07-1923 in Southgate, London and died 24-04-2021 of Dementia in a care home He was generally known as 'Harry'.He has been married twice, first to JANE LLOYD who was born in Pattingham, South Staffordshire on 05-12-1923. They were married on 18-10-1947 at Wood Green, London. Jane died on 09-04-2002 in Bedford. There were 3 children from this marriage:-

SUSAN PEERS:- Susan was born on 16-04-1948 in Enfield, London and married ROBIN FRANCIS GROVE on 24-06-1967. They have two children, ANDREW LLOYD GROVE, born 27-12-1968 and JANINE MARIE LLOYD GROVE, born 04-03-1971.

PATRICIA ANN PEERS:- Pat was born 02-06-1949 in Southgate, London and married KEITH DAVID WILSON, on 07-12-1968 in Wood Green, North London. David was born on 08-12-1947 and died 15-10-2012. They have 2 children, TAMZIN WILSON who was born on 15-01-1972, in Royston, Hertfordshire, and has 3 children, and GRANT BRADLEY WILSON who was born on 04-10-1975 and has 3 children.

LINDA CHRISTINE PEERS: Linda was born 17-09-1951 in Southgate, London and married PETER ANTHONY WINDSOR on 29-07-1972 in Enfield, North London. Peter was born on 25-06-1951. They have 3 children.

Horace's second wife was BRENDA CANN (nee Guy) who was born in 1933 and died in 2011. They were married on 17-09-1976 in Enfield, London and moved to Folkstone where Horace still lives. There were no children in this marriage but Brenda had two daughters, Jane and Debbie from a previous marriage.

HORACE'S ARMY HISTORY.

On 5th August 1943 Harry was called up to join the 'Grenadier Guards' at Caterham in Surry. After training he was then posted to the 3rd Battalion who were  then in Italy. He sailed to Italy disembarking in Naples. On 28th March 1944 the Grenadiers advanced on Cassino and then the 'Monastry' at the top of the mountain. Horace first saw action at Monte Peschiena 15th September 1944 and was involved, in the most appalling weather, in the advance to a fight for Monte Batteqka on the 11th October. Horace returned home on the 19th August 1945.

On 30th April 2020 he received a letter from Buckingham Palace, at the time of the 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe, thanking him for his determination and dedicated service in WW2. A much deserved award.
