JOHN and ELIZABETH PEERS

JOHN and ELIZABETH PEERS are the highest level of our family tree that we have knowledge of. As a point of interest it seems that this family tree is firmly rooted in the English West Midlands

John was born in 1770 and died in ????. He lived in a 'court yard' house in number 12 Court on the Bristol Street, near the centre of Birmingham. It is believed that John originally came from Tamworth in Staffordshire. They were married in ???? at ???? church. From that marriage they had a son, also named John, described below.

JOHN and MARY PEERS. It appears, according to the 1851 census that son John was born about  1794 and was a widower. His occupation was recorded as a Coach Harness Dresser. He had married a Mary ???? in ????. From that union they had two children, a son John and a daughter ElizaFrom the census dates John jnr was born about 1835 and Eliza about 1830. John jnr was a Brass Caster and Eliza  was unmarried and a warehouse girl. At this time nothing else is really known about Eliza. John and Mary had 2 other children, Mary and George.

JOHN and SELINA PEERS. From above John was born 1837 and married Selina Westley in 1859. John died in 1898 and Selina died in 1895.

This union produced family of 6 sons. These sons were named:-

HENRY PEERS: There is a HENRY PEERS who turns up in the 1901 census as running the "Why Not?" Inn in Olbury. This HENRY is of the right age (86), born in 1863, when he died in 1948. He was married to Sarah and had three children. 

WILLIAM J PEERS: William was born in 1870 and was married to Jane who was born in 1869. They lived in Wheelys Lane in 1901 and had one son Thomas, born in 1894. 

ALBERT PEERS: Albert was born in 1871 and married Maria and had one son Ernest. He later married Ann in 1890 and they had one son Walter born in 1895. He may have been in the army during World War I. 

WALTER PEERS: Walter was born in 1880 and no further information.
