Daughter June remembers when her uncle William and wife Lillian, from the USA, visited here in 1939. Unfortunately they went home quickly when WWII threatened.

June loved Grandad (Alfred) Peers, and Arthur encouraged her to 'Look in' on him when she passed from school. However Grandma was apparently quite grouchy.

Nellie was still quite young when she was widowed and lived at various places. I had been trying to find her and purely by chance saw an article in a Solihull newspaper for Nellie Peers 100th birthday at a care home Olton, Birmingham. I went to see her and she was such a bright and resourceful person for her age. 

We developed a bond between us and that was how I located June. The strange part was that she had been living within about a mile of my house, but at some friends house for years. When the time of her passing (at 103 yrs) came close, June came over and it was as if Nellie was waiting for her. Although she was semi conscious she opened her eyes in recognition and passed away very peacefully about 1/2 an hour later

Part of Nellie's family were the Leese family of Birmingham, who owned a very well know crockery market stall in the Bullring market in Birmingham town centre.

June:- June currently lives in Santa Maria, Los Angeles, USA. She was born in 23/07/1931. They lived at Yew Tree Lane in Yardley, Birmingham. She left Birmingham when she was quite young to be an air hostess and also at some time went into nursing. At some point she met and married Bill Barlett who worked as an engineer for NASA, Bill died ??/??/2014 aged ??.

Arthur would have loved June joining an Airline as he loved to travel.
